Welcome back juniors - a letter from the chairman

On behalf of Louth Hockey Club Committee, I would like to welcome you all to the club and provide you with some information about our activities. The club provides opportunities for young people from the age of five years and above to receive hockey coaching, competition and recreational hockey.

All coaching is by qualified coaches who are trained and have been screened for their suitability for working with young people. Alongside them we have junior assistances and parent volunteers helping within each session, if you would like to become involved please speak to Veronica Chamberlin (07849478370( or the Club Secretary Anne Ordish (07900604923).

We welcome all parents to all training and competitions and value your support. Below is some information about training times, dates and details regarding travel arrangements, kit and club registration.

Training sessions at the Astro, The Pavilion, London Road, Louth. LN11 9QP
For New members the first session is FREE
5yrs to 13yrs Boys and Girls - Monday 6.30pm until 7.30pm, cost £2.50 per session.
Whole Club training from 13yrs of age-for Ladies and Men , Mondays & Thursdays 7.15pm until 9pm, cost £3 per session. The senior training groups are separated into to mixed improvers (youth) and seniors mixed.

The club has a Junior Associate/training membership fee of £25 under 13yrs, to be paid by all who attend training sessions by 30th October 2017 please. Go to Contact Us, then Join The Club, fill in the application form. Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email inviting you complete registration and set up your login/profile etc. We are looking to collect annual subscriptions via the site through Go Cardless. I will confirm once this facility is up and running ok. From the website we should be able to send you all updates via email. It will save me sitting at the computer running off reams of paper.

Arrangements should be made for your child to travel to and from training sessions and matches. We would appreciate it if children can arrive to training sessions  no sooner than 6.20pm at the astro pitch cage , being supervised by yourselves, please do not leave your child unattended , they should be collected from the astro cage too at 7.30pm, no child will be permitted to leave the cage without their guardian collecting them.

Could you also let us know if your child has any injuries, sprains or strains etc, that we need to be aware of before training commences?  Please could we ask that young players dress warmly for training sessions, it is easier to take a layer off than get cold: suitable astro turf/ trainers, tracksuits, long socks, shorts or skorts, T shirt, shin pads (a must) and we seriously recommend mouth guards for all players. They can be purchased for a few pounds from “Cojo’s” of Louth. Sticks are available to borrow for the evening. We do have, if parents would like (optional) club polo shirts, hoodies and long club socks for children- see the website or Veronica.

The club enter young sides in the Lincolnshire Junior Friendly U12 and U14 leagues, held monthly throughout the county. If your child would like to take part, and we do encourage them to do so, they are all eligible to play, please let Veronica know ASAP. – contact number 07849478370.

Other events are being organised for players of all ages and their parents, siblings & friends, so please join us. We will keep you informed via the website and Facebook .

Inclement weather conditions – we use both group texts, the club website and facebook to update information through the colder winter months We look forward to a fun season of hockey for your child and their families within the Louth Hockey Club.
