New astro turf pitch is on the cards…but hard work starts now

Following Magna Vitae’s commitment that a 3G pitch will not now replace the existing London Road astro turf, Louth Hockey Club is starting to look at various funding sources to contribute to the cost of replacing the 21 year old aging surface. It is likely to cost, depending on the scale of the replacement, up to £200,000.
The club is hopeful it now has two to three years to make the new pitch a reality- securing the future of hockey in Louth for the next generation.
Hockey club chairman Lesley Ward said: “We had a positive meeting with Magna Vitae on February 14 and we have agreed that both parties will look at ways of securing funding for this new pitch.”
“We have also met with the Leader of ELDC, Councillor Craig Leyland, Councillor Adam Grist and Magna Vitae trustees Councillors Sarah Dodds and Pauline Watson, who are all very supportive of our battle to retain our vibrant hockey club in Louth."
“The club is also very grateful for all the support from ELDC, Louth Town Councillors and members of the public. We were overwhelmed with the strength of feeling that our club should still have a home in the town.”
“However, the hard work starts now to look for ways of funding a new pitch and we hope councillors, our members and the public will be supportive in any way they can of this bid.”
