Good results for men and women

Another busy weekend of hockey saw good results for Louth Ladies and Mens teams.
Louth Hockey Club’s men’s first team gained ground on the top four as they eased to victory at Horncastle on Saturday. Playing the home club’s second team. Andrew Webster put Louth in front with a deft flick over the goalkeeper and into the far left corner of the goal.
But their attempts to forge further ahead were frustrated by a defiant Horncastle side for the rest of the half. Louth improved their game through the second half and soon went further ahead as Chris Higgins tapped in a second. Yet Horncastle brought themselves back into the game, scoring on the counter-attack. After some quick passing, Louth restored their two-goal cushion, courtesy of Alex Bell before Olly Wright then sealed the win with the final goal of the match to cap a respectable 4-1 win.
With the sun shining at London Road the Louth Ladies Hockey 2nd team welcomed Woodhall Ladies to play for the third time this season. Having beat Woodhall earlier in the season we knew they would be desperate to avenge their defeat.
The battle started from the first push back, with the teams evenly matched, the ball travelled from end to end with some delightful passing from our experienced midfield players feeding the ball onto the wings who then crossed the ball into the D causing their goalie to make some fine saves. Having caused their defence all sorts of problems, Louth were awarded a short corner, which unfortunately we couldn't convert into a goal.
Woodhall soon counter attacked and took our defence by surprise and scored the only goal of the first half.
Louth started the second half brightly and before long we scored a goal following some slick passing into the Woodhall D, Sophie hit the ball cleanly into the net to make the score 1-1.
As the final whistle approached both teams had their chances, however the score remained at 1-1, a very fair result.
We are now undefeated in three games, well done girls!

Louth Hockey Club Men's Seconds continued their 5 game unbeaten run with a clean sheet in a goalless draw against Peterborough.
There weren't many chances for either side but Louth showed some good passing but couldn't find a goal.
