Louth Hockey Club has reached the three-quarter mark in its bid to raise £10,000 towards a new Astro Turf pitch for the community.
The club has now raised £7,500 towards the total, after a fundraising ceilidh on March 7 brought nearly £1,000 in.
Chairwoman Lesley Ward said the night, which was held at Studio 2000 in the town, raised £915.50 - with over 90 people enjoying an evening of dancing.
"The ceilidh was to raise funds towards the much-needed Astro Turf and proved to be a huge success, with all tickets sold. This event was supported by members, their families and friends, Mrs Ward said.
"The Riverhead Ranters soon got people onto the dance floor with their wonderful music and with much hilarity an attempt at Strip the Willow was made along with many other dances during the evening.
"A staggering sum of £915.50 was raised bringing the total to £7500 of our £10,000 target. This is the sum pledged by the Club to ELDC as part of our commitment to a new Astro Turf for the town.
Mrs Ward thanked everyone who supported and organised the event, including "the very talented Riverhead Ranters who made the evening go with a swing".
Louth Hockey Club has worked hard to secure funding locally and nationally. Its efforts have brought some success. However, more money is needed, as the project is expected to cost approximately £200,000.
The pitch is 21 years old and in desperate need of replacement. It is used by football and hockey seven days a week.
Mrs Ward continued: “East Lindsey District Council has ring fenced £300,000 to go towards providing a replacement Astro Turf and a new 3G football pitch, with £110,000 being earmarked for our pitch. However, this sum is dependent on the club securing outside funding.”
